What is it called to surgically remove a deep scar??

I want to say lasik surgery but isnt that for eyes or something. I want a deep scar removed or made less visible. I fell from the top of a car and hit me knee and it took skin down to the bone and now Im left with a red scar.. what is it called oh and would they cut it out or laser it down???
