Do they use a catheter (for peeing) when they do a colonoscopy?

I am male and am deathly terrified of a catheter (not sure why). If I need a colonoscopy, will they use one on the patient (in case they urinate) or is the procedure not long enough for them to need one? Is there any way to avoid having one or asking them not to use one?
